Safety At the Pump
We want you to be safe at all times so there are certain things you need to remember when visiting us to fill up.
Engines Did you know it is actually a legal requirement that you switch off your engine before and during refueling.
Smoking It is also a legal requirement that cigarettes, cigars and pipes are extinguished when you enter a service station. This applies not only to the driver, but to the passengers as well.
Motorbikes You must get off your bike before and during refueling - and remember to take your helmet off when entering the retail area
Mobile Phones Despite what some people believe, static electricity is a danger. Dropping your phone, switching it on or off or talking on the phone can cause static electricity which can ignite petrol vapours.
Children You must be 15 years or over to fill up your car's petrol tank. There is a danger that children could spill the petrol on their clothing, or get it in their eyes. Care must be taken at all times.
Autogas Autogas is also known as LPG. If it comes into contact with the skin, it could cause cold burns. LPG is colourless but has a distinct smell so that leaks can readily be detected. If you smell an LPG gas leak, hit the emergency stop button immediately.
Campervans Turn off any auxiliary sources of ignition such as camper or trailer heaters, cooking units or pilot lights.
Portable Containers When filling a container with petrol, use only an approved container and place it on the ground to avoid a possible static electricity ignition of fuel vapours. Never fill a container inside a vehicle, the boot, the back of a ute or the floor of a trailer. Fill the container to no more than 80% to allow for expansion. |
